Michael Mongue is a self-taught painter currently residing in Williamstown, MA. He began exhibiting his paintings in November 1999 with a solo exhibit of twenty works at the Left Bank Gallery in Bennington, Vermont. He  participated in a group show with the Arts and  Crafts Guild in Dalton, Massachusetts in March 2000. In October of the same year, one of his paintings was chosen for a juried exhibition entitled Generation X: Who are we?. Sponsored by the Maine Artists Space in Portland,  this virtual exhibit made its debut via the Internet on October 19, 2000. In the fall of 2000,  he participated in two group shows at the Flatiron Gallery in North Adams. From June to December 2001, he continued to exhibit his artwork in northern Berkshire county; participating in six group shows at the Flatiron Gallery. In August 2001, the Gramercy Bistro in North Adams hosted a three-month solo exhibition of his painting. From June 2001 to January 2002, Joga in North Adams hosted an exhibit of twenty of his paintings. He returned to Joga for another show exhibiting fourteen paintings from September through December of 2003. In September 2004, he made his New York City debut exhibiting his work in a group show at the Amsterdam Whitney Gallery. In February 2005, he ended a two month show at Papyri Books in North Adams. From September  2004 to June 2005,  his work was displayed  at Deborah Davis Fine Art in Hudson, NY. In July 2005 he exhibited his work at the Adams Town Hall for their  Art on the Green show. Currently, the Firehouse Cafe in Adams is hosting a rotating exhibit of his work.

In addition, he has created commissioned work for  collectors,  provided the   compact disk cover art for Berkshire County music groups, contributed art  to charity benefit auctions, and organized a slide presentation of his work for  the Coffee House Series  hosted by the Dalton Community Recreation Association. In June of 2004, a book about his art was published by Xlibris Press of Philadelphia, M.Mongue: Acrylic Paintings from a Berkshire Artist.
